This is the view of the entryway, which is on the side and not directly in front of the house. I'm standing in the doorway. The door on the left enters the livingroom, the stairs lead down to the basement and up to the second and third floors. The door on the right is to a bathroom and also has a shower in it. The floors are all tile, with each tile being approximately one foot (just for reference sake!). Just beyond the bathroom door on the right, next to the stairs heading down, is the entry to the kitchen.
Not much to say here... A shower, a sink, and a toilet.
This picture is a little dark, but this is the kitchen and I'm standing in the doorway. The small, typically German refrigerator is the middle door on the left. Not much counter space, but a nice burnerless stove and a built-in dishwasher. The view from the kitchen window is out to the small street in front of the house.
Additional cupboard space. Approximately 6x8. The housing office on base will provide us with an American-style refrigerator (much bigger!) and this might go in the pantry, or could go where I'm standing in the corner of the kitchen.
I'm standing in the doorway, looking into the living room. There are two large double doors that lead out onto the patio in back. This room is approximately 12 x 20... forgot to look closely while I was in there. There is window to the left (not in picture).
This is a look to the left and provides a view of the window. You might be able to see it in the picture, but all of the windows and doors have security shutters. Important to note, while I'm thinking of it, is that this house was built with Americans in mind. It is very uncommon for German houses to have built-in lighting, such as you see here. Also, note the nice light color of the wood on the ceilings and door frames.
I am now in the living room, standing next to the window. Spotlights on the ceiling. Wall plugs and satellite TV connections in the very left of picture.
This is the top of the stairs leading to the second floor. There are two doors on the left, one straight ahead, and two on the right. The first door on the left is a bedroom, the second door on the left is the main bathroom. The room straight ahead is the laundry room, and the two doors on the right are bedrooms.
This is the first bedroom on the left. Hard to tell the exact dimensions of the rooms since they no longer have the tile finish, but are now a woodgrain linoleum, but the room appears to be a about the size of Heather's room at Beale
A HUGE bathroom! Straight ahead you can see the sink and shower... and to the right...
... a seperate bathtub! The bathroom is approximately 9x7.
Again, a little dark, but this is the entire bathroom.
The laundry room is also a pretty good size, with plenty of room for the washer and dryer that will be provided for us by the housing office. This room is approx 5x8.
A very nice sized room. Again, no tiles, but it is approximatley the size of our main bedroom at Beale, maybe a wee bit smaller. The double doors face out to the backyard. The landlord still has to put up a rail outside the doors so you can't fall down to the first floor patio!
Another view of the second bedroom. The window looks out into an empty field next door.
Very similar to the second bedroom, but no window.
This is an awesome room. I'm crouched down in a corner of the room, right next to where the stairs come out.
Panning around, you can see the installed spotlights (very Ikea-like) There is a small wall there in the middle... not sure why it's there...
And finally around to the side. There are several skylights in this room, which provide ample lighting during the day, as you can see from this picture. The small, slatted door beyond the small wall has got some sort of electrical room or something behind it... I can't remember
This a view from the opposite side and shows the small, L-shaped wall. Might be a good place for plants or Heather's day bed...
Looking down from the attic.
I'm standing on the stairs that lead down to the basement. The front door, directly ahead, leads out to the side of the house (so I guess it's not really a "front" door...)
To the left is the fourth bedroom, in front is a utility closet, and to the right is a storage room.
I am standing in the storage room... which you can see, is humongous! It is the same size as the living room, directly above it.
This is another nice sized room. It is approximately 9x20 with two windows looking out to parking in front of the duplex. You can see our office car through the window... a very nice 2003 Volvo.
I'm now standing in the corner of the room. The satellite dish hasn't been installed, but will be before we move in.
Not very pretty, but they haven't finished the outside of the building yet. You can see the security shutters in this picture. These are the second floor windows in the back.
This is the back patio, with the living room's double doors in the middle and to the right. The double doors on the far left are for the next door neighbors. They are going to put up a wall to seperate the patio.
Standing on the patio, this is the view of the backyard. The stairs lead up the small hill, which is seperated into three levels. A good place to put in a flower and vegetable garden, both of which are very common things from what I've seen in German yards.
