• This is the newspaper for all of the military installations in what is known as the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC).  It covers base events and is a good source for upcoming events in local towns.

The Kaiserslautern USO:  http://www.uso.org/kaiserslautern/

• The local USO sponsors a bunch of sight-seeing trips every month.  There is a local magazine that they distribute called "The Kabel".  If you happen to miss it, the website has all the trips and tours listed under the section "Things to Do".

Ramstein AB theaters:  Ramstein Nightingale and Ramstein Hercules

• There are two theaters on Ramstein AB, the Nightingale, which is across from the BX and close to housing, and the Hercules, which is on the south-side and closer to the dormitories.

• Two really nice hotels in Ramstein village.  Great places to stay if you can't get on-base TLA.  The Hotel America offers breakfast every morning, included in your rent, and has wireless Internet access.  The Hotel Pirsch also offers breakfast with your stay, has a wired Internet connection, and also a small bar and restaurant.  Both of these hotels are owned by the same couple (Herr and Frau Hausmann).

• I use this one a lot!  Earn points for shopping on line and redeem your points for magazine subscriptions, gift certificates, etc.  If you sign up, you can select what types of things you are interested in, and they send you targeted emails.  Just by reading the email, you get points, and if you partipate in the offer, you get even more points.  I haven't paid for a magazine subscription in about four years and we used the points for gift certificates at Stuart Andersens.  Worth a look!
